After being diagnosed with Prostate cancer, and doing MUCH research about treatment options, I determined that Brachytherapy (seed implants) was what I preferred.
NONE of the Dr's I was referred to offered this option. They all wanted to do External Beam Modulated Radiation, every day for 8-9 weeks. In fact, my urologist said "we don't do Brachytherapy in Arizona anymore". It seemed like EBMR was the standard 'thing' now. During my research, I came upon Dr. Bhatnagar's web site. After reaching out to him and having him evaluate my case, we determined I was a good candidate for seed implants. Brachytherapy is still a very valid option for many patients and is actually preferred in many areas of the US and around the world!
I had the procedure done in Chandler that took about an hour. I am happy to report that my PSA dropped 80% in just over a month! Please don't expect this, but it was my personal experience.
One thing I did NOT expect was horrible muscle pain the day after surgery. Only if I moved - like if you exercise too much. But it was EVERY muscle in my body. I have since found out that the Anthologist probably gave me a muscle relaxer that has this after effect. The pain lasted a couple of days, but again, only when moving around. Sitting still was painless.
All-in-all I am very happy with Dr. Bhatnagar, the procedure, and the outcome. His nurse (Martha) was exceptional and personable. She kept me informed every step of the way. I can't express my thanks to Him and his staff enough! Well done guys!
